Depressed people tend to spend more money in general. New stuff seems to make them happy. Doesn't everyone like new stuff.? Some times that feeling of happiness replaces other negative feelings for a while...until it's time to pay for it all. It's a habit like any other sometimes. Hopefully he'll be able to control it.
