Why is my husband so mean when he is not on straterra for his AD HD.?!

Question: Why is my husband so mean when he is not on straterra for his AD HD..?
My husband has always been a little abrasive. We have been married 19 yrs and have 3 kids. I kind of got used to it and thought that was him. I mean he would literally bring me to tears and not blink an eye. Fortunately last year he was diagnosed with AD HD and they put him on on aderral and stratera. I didn't realize how mean he was and how sad i was for all these yrs until i saw a better side of him. When he is on stratera he is the sweetest, affectionate patient man I always wanted. Sometimes he forgets and it like an jekyll and hyde. He is so mean. I ask him did u take the med .?and he says oh oh yeah sarcastically ," I have to take my pill so I can deal with your stupidity". Its like old times and hurts so much more now because I now know a better him. Which is the the real him anyway.? Is the med helping him be himself or is it controlling the real mean person which hurts with words.Health Question & Answer

I can relate.. I have ADD and when I am not taking my adderall, I am in a different state of mind. From what I have experienced, the meds certainly helped me by myself and thats probably the case with him too.

I don't know for sure. But I can tell you, when I was on Lexapro, I was soo nice and sweet.. it was amazing.
But I'm really not THAT severely nice.
So, yeah, the medication can calm him, and make him all sweet and mellow.. that's what he needs.Health Question & Answer

my dear sister, any time i heard people to be put on adderall i always feek a great pity for them, adderall luckily has been withfrawn from the market in europe many years ago abd it's the most addictive amphetamine on earth the only difference with street meth is that it is legal.he becomes mean because he is depressed and angry and not high yes sister high like any drug addict on the earth.if you want to save him from this **** apply to a good therapist for a family or couple counselling it will take more time but it won0t let your husband go crazy or with terrible withdrawal syndriomes and be put in mental hospitals.aderrall is not a medicine it's a real drug so it doesn't help to cure any problem it makes people forget it and after a while it doesn't work anymore because you got so used tpo it that the only way is to double the dose.frequently you get into an abyss because patients discovers themselves that the best way to solve any problems is to take many pills all at once so to be always extremely euphoric .
unfurtunately those drugs are still on sale in the usa and psychiatrists prescribe them without any scruple so to get rid of boring patients and get money soon and easy.your husband is real when he doesn't blinki an eye dear sister probably you should wonder about your relationship and his problems in dealing with it often men hide their frustration in going on with a finished marriage just thinking they must accept it the way it has always been for their children's sake or for other reasons i cannot know not knowing your husband and his psychological background.he becomes mean because he feels frustrated or not rewarded and puts his anger on you.so when he is the man you like he is not the man he really is he is only a drug addict.
psychiatrists shouldn't work without the help of a good psychologist and drugs solve only 30%of the problem while the rest is left both to the abiliyty of a good counsellor and to the willingness to get out of problems.Health Question & Answer
