Do you think i'll be denied my first time applying for disability?!

Question: Do you think i'll be denied my first time applying for disability.?
I've bipolar psychosis, that comes with the anxiety insomnia etc. Been hospitalized in psych hospital twice, once in er attempted suicide. When i take the meds i need, i cant function properly on my own from being so sedated, and still have horrible mood swings.

When i try working i have such horrible panic attacks/depersonalization and psychosis sores through the roof. It seems to be getting worse as i cant tell whats real and whats a hallucination anymore. My case worker advised me to apply for disability although i didnt want to at first but ive finally taken her advice because im already 19 and its just getting harder.

Monday i go into SS to sign release forms to my med records, what do you think would happen. ThanksHealth Question & Answer

Answers:
After you sign the releases it can take up to 6 months for them to either approve you or deny you. You need to make arrangements for support in the meantime. Yes they might refuse you the first time you apply if that happens don't ignore it make sure that you appeal with in the time limit and make sure that you do it in writing. To up the chances of you getting accepted the first time make sure that your doctors take this seriously and fill out the paper work in a timely manner. Even though I was born with my disability it took about four years for them to finally approve me. So don't be surprised if it takes you more than one time to get it especially with this economy.Health Question & Answer

tell the truth , front up with as many references as you can, from medical people, have all your medications with you ,so they can see the legit, prescribed dosage ,plus the drug store labeling , these people are not silly ,they are in this job to wheedle out the pretenders ,if you are as you claim ,you will most assuredly have proper documentation, proving you indeed do qualify for disability.Health Question & Answer

I don't you will be denied. You have more than enough proof that you need assistance.Health Question & Answer

You'll wait for a long time (3 to 6 months), then the odds are that you will be denied - more than 50% of people are denied at the initial application stage in most states. It all depends on the quality of your medical and employment records - do they document that you have a condition that prevents you from sustaining employment.? Get your case worker to write and submit a letter about your symptoms to the disability determination service in your state, once your claim is pending. Get your doctor to do the same - that can be the key to winning. With a history of hospitalizations and ongoing medical treatment, your case sounds good. Beware, though, if there is any evidence of drug/alcohol abuse in your medical records, you could be in it for the long haul. Appeal any denials within 60 days, respond to mail right away, and hang in there. The person who decides your case will not meet you face to face - the person in the Social Security office does not determine your disability. Written evidence is key! Get and submit statements from friends, family, teachers, clergy, neighbors etc. If you lose and have to appeal, many more months will go by before you can collect money. Be proactive now.
