Im 23 and im having trouble thinking of words, nouns particularly. Am i ok?!

Question: Im 23 and im having trouble thinking of words, nouns particularly. Am i ok.?
More and more lately I seem to be at a loss for words. In casual conversation I struggle to remember actors names or when writing I have to sit and think for 30 seconds to come up with words that were a part of my day to day vocabulary. If i was in my seventies i would chalk it up to old age but being in my early 20s Im quite worried.Health Question & Answer

The most likely explanation is mental exhaustion. If you have been stressed lately or even just very busy, you could easily be at your limit for cognitive energy. Even if you don't feel tired, you could still be quite exhausted. It happens to me all the time. I get up early, spend all day at school, come how and study really late, and then do the whole thing over again. It gets draining.

My recommendation is to really try to rest up. Make sure you are getting enough sleep every night (absolute minimum of 8 hours) and try to slow down if you are taking on a lot. Try to find free time to relax every now and then.

If you rest up and slow down, the words will come back.

You'll be fine.Health Question & Answer

I am 24 almost 25 and I'm the same way...
This is why I have been recently doing word puzzles, watching Jeopardy and trying to "exercise" my brain.

Your brain is like a muscle- and just like when you work out with weights to get more muscle in your arms or legs, you need to exercise your brain to make it stronger as well.

For any age, if you aren't doing anything to help it, your mind will get weaker.

When did this start happening.? Do you have any learning disability.? I have a disability due to brain injury at birth so that's partially why I have a memory issue anyway.

Are you in school.? Try writing, word puzzles, reading, that stuff. Work on it.Health Question & Answer

I'm 15 and sometimes I talk so fast that in fact I say the wrong words. Sometimes I will forget completely what word I wanted to say in the beginning. Half the time I don't even notice it. I think it's due to stress and to the fact that the more we try to focus on other things, the less we use vocabulary and the less we communicate with actualy words.Health Question & Answer

You are probably OK. But just in case - i have to ask if you are drinking more, doing more drugs, or talking lots of, you judge that part.

if you are completely focused on something this can happen. If you aren't getting enough sleep, this can happen. it you are worrying a lot, this happens.

Nothing like that.? it would be worth getting a complete physical - because they are a few disease that can have this (sort of ) as a symptom ,sometimes, some thyroid problems, untreated severe diabetes. it would be rare, but it is possible.Health Question & Answer

I have the same problem. Its like im losing my verbal skills. i think its because I dont talk to people as much and I am out of practice....BUT
