How common is it for your diagnosis to change?!


Question: How common is it for your diagnosis to change.?
Mine has changed many times from psychotic nos to bipolar to schizoaffective to psychotic depression.. I'm not complaining or anything becuase I'm on meds and they are really helping me.. I would just like to know if you experienced something similar.?Health Question & Answer

It's not uncommon at all.. Often times you can receive a new diagnoses from session to session.. It all depends on what you are discussing in your session.. Often times you will receive a rule out diagnoses until you experience enough symptoms or enough time lapses to diagnose you with a particular disorder.. I guess so.. I went from psychotic depression to schizo-affective depression to dysthamia.. They no longer recognize my voices or "shadow people"......I dont' understand that but on my dx paper it says nothing about the psycotic part of my issues.. I has have BPD, avoidant personality disorder, and panic disorder with agoraphobia..

After working with you or further testing the therapist or dr determined that the dx may have been incorrect.. The initial dx may have been tentative nos being non specified..

Schizophrenia
Major depressive with psychosis
