I have been on 10 antidepressants over many, many years, and the only thing that ever made any difference was st. john's wort. Who would've thought, such a little herb. It improved my mood the first time I took it, but it's not a miracle worker (the REASONS you're depressed will still need to be addressed before your saddness goes away completely. Remember, emotions produce chemicals, chemicals don't produce emotions.) I am now off all antidepressants because I heard of the recent study that showed they are not any better than placebos. I take heavy vitamins, especially b-complex, st. john's wort, niacin, just a bunch of stuff that should help my body function properly. Try this "natural approach" in addition to obvious exercise and food. Health Question & Answer
The clinical data on St. John's Wort that's starting to come out from NCCAM and from other sources is pretty clear: It's crap. It's pharmacology isn't quite potent enough to deal with depression (and anxiety is a LOT more difficult to work with than depression), but it's potent enough to muck with a lot of other drugs, induce serotonin syndrome, and just royally muck with 3A4 - the most important liver enzyme. Unless something pretty dramatic comes out, this thing's going to end up in the garbage bin very shortly.
Stick with your doctor - listen to his advice. OCD is difficult to manage and you definitely need professional input here. OCD responds better to older, noradrenergic affecting drugs like Amitriptyline.Health Question & Answer

okay well , St. Johns Wart is something you should not take. look up info on this - it is not healthy changing lifestyles can help- figure out what it is you are scared of or worry about .? also you have to think about that you were on that med for a long time- i am sure it is not even truly working anymore- these meds are not for long term use. I suggest you do not take this- please do the correct research.
