from self harm or presumed to be self harm..would this worry you or make you feel better.? Particularly if you were a self harmer yourself or would you rather this concealed.?Health Question & Answer

it would make me feel better, nobody can truly understand self harm unless they also experienced it
the only time i would worry is if they were fresh because that would mean the person is still having problems

I would probably be comfortable with it since it would be apparent that the person has had a history of psychiatric illness but overcame it and recovered from it. It's like drug/alcohol counselors who have a history of substance dependence. They've been there, done that, overcame it and can really identify what you're going through. Health Question & Answer
Honestly, I would feel comforted if the person I was seeing had the same affliction as I did.

Very interesting question. Mostly I'd feel fantastic that a person who went through something so horrible would get so far in life! Impressive! I think I'd feel a little better - as long as they weren't NEW harm scars/cuts.Health Question & Answer
they have been through the same problem before so they must know what they are doing. that happens a lot with mental health professions people - they have been through it or have known someone who did. Health Question & Answer
