The problem with drugs is the addictive factor and the level of destruction it causes. Even though is masks the pain temporarily, it will eventually add more sadness and despair into the equation. Running away from feelings never tends to solve anything, unfortunately.
Try finding an "out" that isn't destructive. Channel those raging emotions into something brilliant; write a book, paint a masterpiece (who cares if it looks ridiculous.?) write a song, enter a marathon, take an interesting class, travel.
