Are these symptoms normal for a recovering alcoholic?!

Question: Are these symptoms normal for a recovering alcoholic.?
I've been 11 days sober and at first I had a ton of energy, now all I wanna do is sleep. I can sleep 12 hours at night and take a 3 hour nap during the day..Is that normal when you first quit drinking.?.?.? also, all I crave is sweets. Cookies, ice cream and candy...I haven't eaten this stuff in years. Are these things normal.?.? Will they pass if this IS normal.? Any recovering alcoholics, please share your story with me. Answers:
I'm 10 years sober. You brought back a lot of memories! Yes, that's exactly what happened to me physically when I quit drinking. I needed a lot more sleep (I think I was catching up on all those years of broken sleep). And the sweets! My God! I craved them like crazy, but what the heck, it was definitely better to eat a bowl of ice cream than to get drunk.

As for sweating...I had night sweats for about 9 months. I would wake up soaking wet. It was disgusting.

But there is an end to this. Hang in there, hang in there!

yes, it is just because your body is use to you drinking alcohol everyday and now that you have stoped you are pretty much just trying to start a new habbit( something like that its hard to explain)

for example when people stop smoking they usually will start chewing seeds or gum.

after awhile these symptoms should passHealth Question & Answer

It will pass. My hubby's been sober 19 months. Try AA. Seriously. Keep going until you find the meeting you fit in with. It's working for him after so many attempts to try. 19 months was a dream that would never happen for him... but it has and he has no desire to go back to day 1. Health Question & Answer
