Is it true that hallucinogens such as LSD and Mushrooms are being studies for potential use as therapy meds?!

Question: Is it true that hallucinogens such as LSD and Mushrooms are being studies for potential use as therapy meds.?
Answers:
Not LSD, but mushrooms have been discussed as a possible therapy for severe depression. I read in a journal article that mushrooms were found to make people happier and more content with their lives after only one use. The participants were even followed for a over a year, and still reported being happier after only the one test. Apparently, the spiritual experience of mushrooms was what the study participants reported having the biggest effect. It's unfortunate our government is so uptight about medicinal drug use, but if medicinal marijuana is barely legal then I never see mushrooms being a legalized treatment for anything.Health Question & Answer

Actually it is TRUE that they were used in the 1960s by Harvard psychologist Timothy Leary as "therapy meds."

LSD was introduced by the government but then used by psychologists. Studies were done at Harvard University and other prominant universities.

Today, they are banned and are not believed to be useful as therapy meds.Health Question & Answer
