I think my sister is bipolar she has complete control over my parents and she is destroying my family, help!!!?!

Question: I think my sister is bipolar she has complete control over my parents and she is destroying my family, help!!!.?
She is 21 years old now and has never had a job. She sleeps all day and is awake all night. Sometimes she can be really nice, but other times she is the devil! My parents are completely depressed and go out of their way to make sure not to disturb her. She throws these crazy fits and breaks things when she doesnt get her way. Its just out of control and i dont know where to turn to for help. She has been this way as long as i can remember and i think it has seriously turned my father into a depressed alcoholic. It breaks my heart especially since my other sister had a baby one year ago, works most the day, so the baby is exposed to her outrageous behavior. HELP Health Question & Answer

Your parents need to kick her out of the house and stop babying her. She's at an age now where she can't depend on mommy and daddy to do everything for her anymore. She just needs to grow up. I don't think she is bipolar. Depressed maybe. You can still get extremely angry when you are depressedHealth Question & Answer

Find some information articles about bi-polar that have your sister's symptoms outlined in them and highlight what you would want you parents to read. Then make sure to leave them for your parents to see and see if they come up with the same solution as you did. You could also try talking to your sister and see if she would go in for an evaluation, tell her your worried about her.Health Question & Answer

I'm sorry to hear that you are having this problem . You might check your local phone book or use the internet to locate your local emergency room / mental health facility and give them a call and see what they recoommend. Perhaps a person that she trusts can talk her into treatment. I pray this is not the case, but if she is violent towards a family member in any way, you may be able to enlist the help of the police department to get her held for evaluation and possible treatment. It is hard because she is an adult, but sometimes it has to be that way.Health Question & Answer
