Have you ever gone through a long period of time in self imposed isolation ?!

Question: Have you ever gone through a long period of time in self imposed isolation .?
I rarely go anywhere and have difficulty being around people most days. I am on medication that seems to be working for depression, but I have been keeping to myself for nearly two years now after I became seriously ill.

I used to be VERY social at times and I guess attention seeking as well since that is part of the bipolar.

Any advice on how I can change.? I don't like being this way although I have come to value my alone time. Health Question & Answer

How about volunteering to help people. Go to the library and read to little kids. Or an old age home and talk to a resident there who is very lonely for any company. Try helping out at a food kitchen. Organize a cleanup of a local park. There are so many ways you can help people and it will break you of your isolation. You could be some body's Godsend!!

When my grandpa died, I wouldn't leave the house for anything except school. At school, I didn't talk to anyone, not even my best friend. I was just completely withdrawn. After a couple months, I realized that I was missing so much around me, and that being involved could help take my mind off of missing my grandpa.

Just be more involved in things around you. Have fun with friends/family, pay attention to pets, etc. =)Health Question & Answer

Yes this summer, I was alone for about 2 months continuously. It was not a good time for me. The longer I spend alone the more suicidal I became staring at the walls... the tv... and going online...

My thinking became warped and it was hard to snap out of it. Thankfully uni started again and i began to socialise more. i was very anxious to go back because i had become afraid of people.Health Question & Answer
