I dont think it's inhereted though. I just think if the parents are depressed they will raise the child in a depressed inviroment, and the child grows up depressed. If that same child was given to a warm loving family, he/she will grow up a happy warm loving person.Health Question & Answer

It seems like it is the susceptibility to depression that is inherited. Environment and life situations can trigger depressive episodes.
