Oh yes, I have hung onto depression until I avoided my way into even more trouble, and just wanted to curl up and stay in bed all day! However, I found the only way out was to 'get out', and at least accomplish one thing that needed doing. Sometimes it was just cleaning my desk, closet, bathroom, etc.
I then needed to get involved with others for whom I might be able to give something of myself.
Do you want an answer other than yes or no.? Are you wanting to 'feel better'.? Health Question & Answer

Sleeping is a normal side-effect of depression. Not having enough energy to do anything but sleep is common.
However, it can be a 'catch-22', meaning, the more you sleep - the more you will want to sleep.
Try to get outside for just a few minutes a few times a day. Try that for a few days. See if you don't feel a little better. You don't have to do anything - that would be too overwhelming - just sit in the sunshine.
After that, try taking short walks in the sunshine a couple of times a day. This should also help.
Sunlight does have a way of combatting depression. It helps the good chemical in your body, called serotonin, increase. The increase will help you feel better.

I am with you on this one!!!! I was on Lexapro and Zanax for my depression, but the Lexapro made me sick, so I took myself off of it, but, the Zanax seems to help, somewhat. But, I am like you, I want to sleep all the time. After my kid's go to school, I go back to bed and I sleep 'till about 1:00 p.m., then i have to get my husband up for work, and get ready to pick my kid's up from school. If I could sleep all day, I would, just to avoid everything.Health Question & Answer
Whenever I was depressed I actually found that seeing other people who were suffering made me feel better (not in a sadistic way but in a way that I'm not the only one suffering) I never really felt better, actually I felt worse, while I was asleep.Health Question & Answer
I'm the same way. That's why I'd much rather be sleeping than be awake right now, but I need to do projects that are due tomorrow and I'm procrastinating.
