I like to be called by my name.Health Question & Answer

I have bipolar and other "problems' including addiction. Fortunatily I have over come the addiction.

I do not understand why you have to be called anything. What do you call someone with heart disease, or a broken arm. Forget about labels as that is something that can cause more problems. Just know that you have a disease. and it sounds like it is being treated. There are dozens of types of heart disease. Do you think that these people worry about what kind of heart problem they have.

Sure they do so they can know how to help themselves treat it. Why should you be any different. You have an illness. forget about the label just get better LOL e mail if ya need some helpHealth Question & Answer

The first thing I thought was "I wouldn't want to be 'called' anything." You are not your disorder. You are a person first-ALWAYS. So, if someone asks, if you want to tell them, you could say I am a person with bipolar disorder or whatever name you want. That's just my opinion. Health Question & Answer

Bipolar disorder and schizophrenia are two completely separate illnesses. I am willing to tell people I have depression and PTSD, and depending on the person I may mention I have been diagnosed in the past with Dissociative Identity Disorder.Health Question & Answer
