Question: Is S&M just another form of Abuse.?
My wife and I have this friend that has gotten into S&M and she likes to be tortured for the pleasure of it, I feel this is but another form of abuse and my wife who has been raped in the past feels that our friend has betrayed every woman on the planet who has been through abuse or has been raped in the past. I am trying to understand this but I am having a real hard time doing so because I believe that any type of abuse is completely and utterly unexceptable be it verbal, mental, emotional, physical, sexual or spiritual. It is something that would only be abuse if she really did not give permission for it to be done. I, too, have not only been stabbed and raped, I was held by my captor for 1.5 years in secrecy being raped by not only him but friends of his that would pay him to rape me. My mental status could not alllow me to do such a thing nor would I want to. It actually takes someone who is very mentally strong to be comfortable doing the aforementioned. Remember, that is done in the safety of their home by the person who she would trust most. He would hopefully make sure that everything is safe and that there would be no threat. There are also different levels of S&M. It could be a more mild practice than what you are used to seeing in the media. If you are worried about her than I would pull her aside and ask her straight out if it is completely by choice. If she says no or not really then get her out of that situation. There are people that do get pleasure out of pain, but these people generally do things safely. They only do it with a partner they trust, in an environment that is safe, and with a safety word. These things keep things in the realm of safety, which allows them both to stop if things get to be too much.Health Question & Answer
I agree with you. It is abuse!, and demoralizing to all mankind. To me, these people are very mentally unbalanced. Do we really wonder why so many men rape when this kind of filth is seen as ok.? It's disgusting!Health Question & Answer
