My son was on lamictal for his bipolar and it was the ONLY med that didnt give him any side effects.
Please realize that all meds react differently in differenet people. You have to find the right med for U. But as for lamictal, I find a high percentage of people have little to no side effects.

I've been on it for a few years. It helps keep me level, but at higher doses it tends to also blank out my mind somewhat. I have a lot of trouble thinking of the right word when speaking or writing, along with the cognitive deficit. However, I prefer being a little blank to being completely miserable and agitated.Health Question & Answer
