Question: Can a panic attack cause any bodily harm.? .?
I just posted a question earlier about being very depressed. somethin that happened set me off in a bad mood swing, and i had a panic attack as well. Can panic attacks cause any bodily harm.? i just wondering cuz i noticed how i was barely breathing the whole time and how much pain it was. Thanks in advance Health Question & Answer

panic attacks should make u breathe quickly (tachypnea) which would upset ur acid/base balance.
u may get a headache and may even pass out.
that is why some people breathe into a paper bag, to breathe back in the CO2 exhaled.
when u breathe rapidly, u exhale CO2 which causes ur body to become alkalotic. by breathing into paper bag, u breathe back in the CO2.
it can cause bodily harm if u fall on something, lol.

A panic attack, would not cause you any bodily harm.
However, having a panic disorder for a long period of time can cause high levels of stress that can lead to medical problems, such as ulcers things like that, I would imagine even things like high blood pressure. If you can get the panic under control your physical well being would improve.

also, bodily harm caused by yourself could be a consequence of panic attacks, you should try to get help with the panic problems that you have.

Your physical or mental body will not be affected by the panic attack... meaning, you won't go "crazy" and you won't have a heart attack. All it is, is your thoughts going out of control and going in an upward spiral. You just have to calm yourself down so you don't freak out even more.
