Question: How to Get Eating Disorder Treatment with NO Insurance.?.?
Several people I know have eating disorders...they are all adults (one of them is my sister). Several of these friends want help, but do not have medical insurance to pay for the very expensive treatment centers. I know that help is necessary for these friends to get well, but they can't afford it. What do they do.? The centers won't take you if you can't pay...I think it is horrible. People who need help can't get it because the cost of care is so high and they don't have insurance. I am afraid at least one of my friends is going to die very soon if she does not get help. Contact your local hospital. The hospital will have social workers who can help find a program for people with no insurance or get you in contact with a support group who can help youHealth Question & Answer
I agree with goingrun. Your best bet is to contact your local Community Service Board or county organization to assist you. They'll assign you a social worker and go from there. However, often times their resources don't support an eating disorder unless it is so severe that it is very severe. This is unfortunate, but worth at least trying.
