The biggest difference is anxiety. Introverts prefer to be alone. Whereas, people with social anxiety want to be around people, but are paranoid about embarrassing themselves.
Introverts like quiet activities such as: reading, painting, etc. Being around people too much can tire them out. Ever been with a child who just won't stop talking.? Then you have an idea what it feels like for an introvert to be forced to socialize with an extrovert.
Introverts experience stress also, but it's more the kind of stress you feel when you have to go to church, but you'd rather stay home and watch the game.
