Should I listen to my mother..?!

Question: Should I listen to my mother...?
I have mild depression. I have been keeping it a bit of a secret from my family. I finally opened up to my mom that i believe i have depression. She doesn't think im crazy either. She believes i do too. Many have suggested medication, but I would prefer not. My mother suggested therapy so I can pick out the problem. I know what the problem is, but I don't know how to mend myself. Should i listen to her and go for it, or try and fix things myself.

Remember i'm only 15.

Therapy or support groups are a great, helpful option. The first step, though, should be talking to a medical professional, preferably a psychotrist which is someone who has a medical degree and a background in psychology.

Remember, too, that chronic depression is a unbalance of nurotransmitters in the brain, and sometimes need to be treated with medication. It's no different then a person with diabetes taking insulin or a person with allergies taking medication to stop sneezing.Health Question & Answer

You are lucky that you know what the problem is. If it is due to external circumstances in your life, seeing a therapist can help you get some perspective on it and feel better.

You are also lucky your mother is supportive. 15 is a hard age, and you may be able to fix it by yourself, but it can't hurt to have help. It would be worth a try to see a therapist. It can be very healing if you find a good one. I hope you feel better!Health Question & Answer

Your mother does not want to talk to you about your problems, this is the only thing a therapist does.
Some of them have some college but no medical degree.
There is no such therapy school out there.

Any friends to talk to.? Find someone to talk to, if it is a therapist sounds like mom will pay for it. Health Question & Answer

I think u should give it try for a little while. If it doesn't work, stop going. It may also help if u try to talk to a close relative or friend that u trust. Things will get better. Just keep in mind, there's people with a whole lot of more problems than u.Health Question & Answer

Maybe you should tell your mother about the problem. Or a therapist might be able to help with the problem if it's serious and you don't want your mother to know. It's hard to say without knowing what your problem is.Health Question & Answer
