10 points, what was this.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
i say it was anxiety or panic but there are differences. generally with a panic attack the symptoms come out of nowhere and you dont usually realize what caused them but seeing as you are afraid of heights i would say it was more than like anxiety over that fear of heights. panic attacks usually cause much more than dizziness and you literally feel panicked. i wouldnt worry too much about it unless it continues to happen. also be careful because many times if you are in the situation again you will feel that way again, be prepared for that if u have to cross the bridge again.

Panic attacks are sudden, discrete periods of intense anxiety, mounting physiological arousal, fear, stomach problems and discomfort that are associated with a variety of somatic and cognitive symptoms.

Experiencing a panic attack is said to be one of the most intensely frightening, upsetting and uncomfortable experiences of a person's life.

A panic attack is a response of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). The most common symptoms may include trembling, dyspnea (shortness of breath), heart palpitations, chest pain (or chest tightness), hot flashes, cold flashes, burning sensations (particularly in the facial or neck area), sweating, nausea, dizziness (or slight vertigo), light-headedness, hyperventilation, paresthesias (tingling sensations), sensations of choking or smothering or derealization, the feeling that nothing is real. These physical symptoms are interpreted with alarm in people prone to panic attacks. This results in increased anxiety, and forms a positive feedback loop.

Hope this helps!Health Question & Answer

This was not a panic attack. A panic attack makes you literally feel like you are going to have a heart attack and die.

What you are describing is a phobia (fear) and an anxiety-type reaction to the phobia.

Your phobia caused you to get anxious, which caused you to hyperventilate (breathe very fast). Hyperventilation will cause you to feel dizzy and cause your hands to feel numb.

Fear of heights causing anxietyHealth Question & Answer

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.

The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced... you have that "learned behavior" in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction... There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to....
