Question: Abilify, geodeon both horrible! what should i suggest next.?
ive tried abilify and geodeon both were horrible! i know were all different chemistry wise but what should i suggest to take thats in the same family.?Health Question & Answer

I was on Neurontin and Zyprexa for about 6 weeks. The Zyprexa at night to sleep.
It was okay, but I needed some better medication.
Now I take Lexapro(10mg) and Seroquel(25mg) I take them both at night, and wow, I am so happy I decided to try them.
Drugs work differently on people, and I was really worried to try the Seroquel- I read sooo much about it making people sleep alot, gain weight, and stuff. NEVER have had any of those problems.I do get a stiff neck at times, wich I never had before in my life, but that's about it.
The Lexapro is super for my Anxiety and panic. NO MORE! All OVER!
I am amazed. I hope I never have to stop these!

First off, I have Bipolar Disorder & I'm assuming you do too.? Let me tell ya sister, I feel your pain about the Geodon. I was on it for almost 3 months at a very high dose, I just slept all the time, felt sick, & felt like a zombie. I also was on Abilify, I think only 10 mgs. I didn't notice to many side effects except weight gain (so I quit taking it). I really wish I could tell you the perfect magic pill that will work for you, but we are all different. As of now, I am on Depakote & Wellbutrin (an antidepressant), I do feel better off now than 2 months ago, but the Depakote does still make me tired. You could try Lithium or Lamactil, they are both mood stabilizers. There are a few other "mood stabilizers" out there, but these are the 3 usually used 1st. Of course, I'm not a Doctor, but at least you can look these up, hope I helped:) Feel free to e-mail me if you want. p.s. Alice is correct about Depakote suposivly causing weight gain, but most of these meds do. As far as how fast it gets into your system, it's pretty fast, 2-3 weeks, I was at thetheraputic dose at 2 weeks.Health Question & Answer

Don't be afraid to ask your doctor for their suggestions, however I did suggest the med I used to take to my p-doc and they agreed - it seemed less dangerous than lithium.
If it's mixed episode, rapid cycle bipolar - often mood changes or feeling wired on fire and miserable all at the same time - with headaches -- then depakote might help. but it does take about 3 months to acclamatize to the drug and you have to watch out for cookies and donuts .. weight gain !
