What to do for depression in college...?!

Question: What to do for depression in college....?
I'm a junior in College, and I've been feeling majorly depressed lately. Some of it stems from the fact that I'm taking pretty challenging classes and I have tons of work. Another part stems from the fact that I don't know what I'm feeling for my best guy friend, who is one of my only friends. Part of me feels like I'm too dependent on him. also, I feel like I'm missing out on the college experience. I've never been to a frat part, and have only been to a club one time. I feel like I'm wasting my college experience. Can someone please help me.?Health Question & Answer

If you are depressed, drinking is not going to help you feel better in the long run. Have fun, but don't get wasted to the point of blacking out. Don't let drinking get in the way of school. It sounds like you are going through a rough patch; you don't need to add hangovers to your Mondays.

College is hard, sometimes. Most schools have a health center. Check it out and see a doctor. Your tuition pays health fees, right.? You can talk to a doctor, and tell him/her what's going on. The doctor can rule out any hormone imbalances and check your overall health. If you are diagnosed with depression, you can get medications and counseling if you need it.

Take it easy on your guy friend for now until things calm down. If you are bogged down with midterms and term papers, you don't have time to be involved in a new relationship. If this guy is the one, he can wait. Since he is a friend, lean on him for advice and support when you are feeling down, but keep it at that for now. You need to get through school.Health Question & Answer

Your college, assuming it's in the US, follows the law and isn't some crazy bible-based degree mill in a portable building in the Rockies, has a student health service. At the student health service, there's a division for mental health. They have counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists, all there to see students at low to no cost for the visit.

Take advantage of it.

I've TAd classes for several years now. And it's frustrating to see undergrad students struggle with stress and depression when there's help readily available that can do everything from manage schizophrenia, to give you someone to talk your feelings over in a safe, confidential way.Health Question & Answer

I would probably throw on some trashy clothes and hit up a frat party and get into some trouble.

Do the things that you feel like you're missing out on. It's pretty much self explanatory. And don't feel guilty for it either. Life is experience, so live a little.. or a lot!!Health Question & Answer

Well take less classes. And take the other classes during the summer or something.
Maybe he is depending on you too.

Frat part is a waste of time... all they do is smoke and drink alcohol.
Party and stuff.

You're not wasting your college experience.... there is no such thing.Health Question & Answer
