I don't like needles either and I am 37 years old. I get nervous and all sweaty when I have to have an injection for anything, but to tell you the truth, the nurses or doctors these days are so quick you don't even know you've had it,. I just turn away and don't look and think about something that makes me happy, like my cat for instance. I always tell the nurse or doctor that I'm scared as well and they then talk to you whilst they're doing it to try and take your mind off it, within seconds, the injection is complete and painless, I just feel a slight pinch xHealth Question & Answer

even I used to be really scared of needles.
when we had medical day in school i used to hide.
if you want to get over needle fear, give urself a little pinch on your arm once.
while getting the needle think of a song and hum it in ur mind and don't look at the injection or sit in ur parents lap or hold someones hand.
it really helps.Health Question & Answer

How about taking some music with you when you go.? Something nice and relaxing or something you really enjoy and can get into, and then when the time comes just close your eyes and focus on the music. This should keep you distracted.

Deep breathing is also a good idea as it reduces your heart beat and helps you stay calm - if you can't take music then just try and focus on your breathing.Health Question & Answer

Try this - wiggle your toes really vigorously. First wiggle them altogether, then one foot at a time. Then wiggle them in a wave from the big toes outwards. Then try wiggling them one at time. And hopefully you'll be concentrating so hard on that you won't be hyper ventilating and you won't notice the needle too much.

Think about something else and don't look. You could ask the person administering the needle to talk to you and distract you because needles make you feel uncomfortable. Just keep yourself distracted and don't tense your arm because it'll hurt more.Health Question & Answer

I think of someone who has been through a lot of pain or is ill at moments like this and then think well this is only a teeny-weeny thing and it will be all over in the blink of an eye. Take slow deep breaths and remember how tough you really are. Health Question & Answer

find something small in the room to focus on. Just stare at whatever it is and allow your mind to come up with lots of questions about whatever it is you're looking at. You'll be so involved with this you won't notice the needle. It helps me, I hope it helps you!Health Question & Answer
