Dear Sexi,
O.K.,here's how it happened to me.All of my life I was deeply depressed and then at age 25 Ihad a crisis of mania brought on by post partum hormonal changes.I am glad to report that my child is 20 yrs. old now and mother and daughter are doing very well. It's been a long and winding and often rocky, steep road to health but my joy in living now is greater than it ever has been.I began to have more extreme and wild moods after 25 and still occasionally have great heights of mania and crushing lows of depression.I also found 5 years ago that I have a dissociative type of ego formation(commonly known as mpd or did)but thanks to the addition into myself of mood stabilization medication and anti depressant meds. I have conquered this also.My Father and mother and brother also have bi-polar type personalities and when I search back into my genetic histories I can plainly see that this type of life has been systemic throughout..It's certainly nothing to fear we are some of the most Intelligent, creative, and world changing souls there are eg.Abraham Lincoln,Beethoven,Edgar Allan Poe, Vincent VanGogh,Issac Newton,Earnest Hemmingway,Michelangelo,Winston Churchill,Vivien Leigh,Emperor Norton 1,Patty Duke,ect....So,IMHO(in my humble opinion) we are in the best of company!I have alot of these names on a sign I keep on my wall that came from the national alliance for mental illness or NAMI.org the caption says,MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE ENRICH ALL OUR LIVES look them up and join us if you like. I am proud to be among them.Good luck try not to feel shame or embarassment over this.I am always available if you want to talk.Love and Light,KIMHealth Question & Answer

It's natural for the brain, when experiencing downs, to compensate with a hormonal rush. Your body is trying to balance out. It doesn't mean you have a disorder. It means you are growing and experiencing the human brain and its power.
The way you choose to feed your brain will make all the difference. Stay away from addictive substances. Eat a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, and exercise at least three times a week. That will help bring your emotions to a normal level.
It's important that you don't fall on a crutch, saying "I'm bipolar" and use that for an excuse for bad behavior. We all experience ups and downs, it's how to deal with them that makes you who you are.Health Question & Answer
