I think I'm bipolar, manic depressive, or both. Is there a way I can know for sure without my parents knowing?!

Question: I think I'm bipolar, manic depressive, or both. Is there a way I can know for sure without my parents knowing.?
I am like, 90% sure that I am either manic depressive, bipolar, or both. A few hours ago I was ecstatic, I loved life, and things were great. But now, I just finished crying because I hated myself, really really hated myself. I'm better now, but I'm still a little sad. This happens all the time, I'll hate myself and get sad for no reason, sometimes I want to kill myself when I have everything to live for. Sometimes I'm really hyper and talkative, and sometimes I want to sleep all the time.

Virtually every symptom for bipolar disorder: I have...

But I'd like to talk to a doctor and be sure. If my parents thought I had either of these disorders though, they'd be pissed. IDK why, they're just like that. So is there a way I can speak with a doctor or something, without them knowing.? I'll tell them if I have it of course, but if I find out I don't, I'd rather them not know that I suspected it at all. Ya know.?

...Thanks in advance, and thanks for reading. I know it was a bit long.

Listen, I can completely relate. I bought this book on Bipolar that was written by a doctor and at the end of it, there are a number of tests you can take and add up by yourself to see how likely it is that you have bipolar. There are questions like, "Yes or No, I often think about suicide." and "Yes or No, when I talk people often tell me to slow down"

After that you can tell your parents you want to get a check-up at the doctors and then when you are in the room alone with the doctor, ask about being bipolar.

As far as your parents knowing, I can relate too. But nobody, not even your parents can control a chemical imbalance in your system. Try asking them questions or bring up topics pertaining to bipolar to get a feel for exactly how they feel about bipolar in general. Chances are, they wont be mad.

I always thought my parents were mad at me for having bipolar, but many years later they told me they were just disappointed because they themselves did not know how to handle it. They were mad at themselves for not knowing what to do for me. I hope this is helpful.Health Question & Answer

Well its possible to know, search for a bipolar quiz. Keep in mind that highs and lows are often 2 weeks apart, if its going up and down all day it may be something else. But, why not tell your parents, they may get mad but it will be worth it. Bipolar people have a lot of struggles in life and it can get them in trouble socially and financially. Its worth getting checked out by a professional, they are the only ones who can diagnose and prescribe medication if needed.Health Question & Answer
