Self mutilation...help please?!


Question: Self mutilation...help please.?
I have had serious thoughts about self harm very frequently over the last couple months.

I cant go see a counselor.

and I need to know,

does anyone know any distraction techniques.?

anything.
it doesn matter if it is bitting my lip.
or popping a rubber band,
something.

Bless you, you really need to talk to someone face-to-face and as soon as you can. Things like this need to be worked out over time, and no one can do that for you with one little answer. talk to yourself, listen to music a lot, watch tv, read, talk to other people, get ADD and then every time you think about hurtting yourself get distracted by something that you don't even care about. Or maybe just once you can try hurting yourself, and you may end up realizing that it hurts more than it looks like. But if you do decide to hurt yourself, don't do something like cutting main veins cause thats not self mutilation its suicide.Health Question & Answer

i find whenever i start thinking about it, or even getting stuff out to do it, i need to get my head, body, everything out of the situation otherwise i'll end up doing it. I drink a couple glasses of cold water, wash my face and walk around the block. I've found distraction helps sometimes (i.e. the walking part) but the water always helps me visualize that i'm helping wash out the negativity.

Some people i know shower, but its sort of a 'to each his own' sort of thing. Don't worry you'll find something that'll help - but in the mean time you should just keep experimenting with different ways to get your mind out of that frame. Hmm. I remember, when I was trying to stop....I think I remember writing. I wrote some pretty messed up stuff, but I would write poetry until the urge went away. Biting your lips just make them nasty and chapped. Rubber bands work pretty well, or so I've heard. (I haven't tried myself, it seemed a bit obvious.) A good idea is not letting yourself be alone, or simply throwing away everything that you can think of to hurt yourself. Health Question & Answer

I'm a very self destructive person. Sadly I fallowed my thoughts of it; I have a disorder that I will hurt my self with out knowing..I've had this for a LONG time.
