Why can't I handle it anymore?!

Question: Why can't I handle it anymore.?
I've always been in the highest honors classes at school and I always got A's without even trying, and i took an AP class last year.
This year is totally different though. I think I overloaded my scedule and now I'm so stressed out.
I was ok, until a few of my teachers said they would have finals next week, and they would restructure our grades around them. I'm really stressed out and I have tons of homework too.
It's too much.
I've already had 2 panic attacks this year, and I think I'm about to have another one.
I can't switch out until semester, but I shouldn't have to. Why can't I handle this year. I feel like I've gotten dumber. I used to always be ahead in school and now I'm always lost in all my classes.
It's my jr year so it's like my most important year, but I'm doing worse than I've even done in school before.
I don't get enough sleep, and I never have time to do anything fun, like I had the past 2 days off from school, but I spent them studying, and I'm still not even close to being done. My friends invited me to go with them to Lagoon (has roller coasters and stuff) but I knew I couldn't, because I have so much homework.
My brothers say they never had to do that much homework and they took even harder classes than me.
Why is this year so hard, why am I doing so bad, I've never been lost in any class before and now I'm lost in like half of them.Health Question & Answer

I just felt like I was reading my story. I'm in the same boat as you except I'm a sophomore in college. I knew that I overloaded this semester, but I didn't really have a choice. There are some nights when I can't go to sleep because I keep thinking about how much work I'll have to get done. Here's the thing though: I know that I'm going to get it done. That's what you need to keep telling yourself. No matter how bad things seem, they will get better. You seem very intelligent to me, and you aren't getting dumber. The problem is that you have too many classes, and you took on more then most students your age. It's okay though, because this will help you prepare for college and when every other freshmen is struggling to learn how to balance their time to fit in all their work, you'll already be one step ahead. So try your best. I used to be a straight A student, but now if I get a B here and there, I'm okay with it. I have a LONG path ahead of me. Since I'm planning on becoming a doctor, I must continuously overload on difficult courses. I know it will only get worse when I get (if I can get) into medical school. The only thing that keeps me thinking positive is knowing that at the end of all this, I'll come out on top. So just do the best you can. That's all you can ask of yourself. Good luck and feel free to email me.Health Question & Answer

I can' t tell you why you are doing worse then what you know you are capable of. What I can tell you is that we have all been there. I have to suffered from panic attacks. What has helped me has been to talk to someone. To talk to my parents or my friends. Sometimes even to call somewhere anonymous, someone who will just listen and not have to many opinions.
But, if you used to better I'm sure you will again. Just do the work that you need. But don't over do it. Find out exactly what you need to know, to get where you want, lessons plans are often really valuable. Not to mention passed exams :) Good luck to you!

It's all stress...your body is having a hard time handling it. Just make sure you take the time out to soak in a bath or take long shower to try to relax. Junior IS your hardest year, but if you stick with it and work your *** off, your Senior year will be a breeze. Tough it out girlfriend, it'll be worth it. And nobody said you had to get straight A's. If you simply cannot handle it all, just pick and choose a few assignments to skip (or half-***). OH, you could even talk to your teachers and ask for extensions for some assignments. If you tell them about the panic attacks and how stressed you are, they might be willing to help. also, (sorry I keep rambling) get a planner if you don't already and make sure you write everything you need to do down. If you don't, you'll try to remember it all and it'll stress you out that much more.Health Question & Answer

Your intellectual and emotional energy is being obliterated by the stress that you are experiencing. Stress will rob you of sleep and make it impossible to focus and get down to business --- in short you are caught up in a vicious cycle. STOP and take a deep breath. Remember that your anxiety is ramping up your perception of what you are up against. Firstly, clear and calm your mind with a yoga class, meditation, massage or afternoon out with friends. Secondly, sit down in a happy place and make a priority list, create a reasonable timeline for the tasks at hand. Thirdly, enlist the help of your teachers--- let them know about your concerns, let them know you want to do your absolute best and solicit their advice in prioritiziation and time management. Maybe they can steer you away from time wasters and give you tips on covering the most material without wasted effort. You are not lost---- don't let this setback ruin your obvious love of learning and dont forget to take time for exercise and proper nutrition. Good luck honey.Health Question & Answer

Well, first of all the first thing you got to do is relax. It might help you think straight. Secondly you're not getting dumber, simply you might have gotten used to the idea that you'll get A's no matter what. That's what's happening to me this year as well. You have to keep up with your work, but remember your health is more important! try to get enough sleep since it's better and makes you think straight. every time you feel a panic attack coming try your best to relax. I know it's easy slacking off but you got to remind yourself you need to do what you need to do first. If the coarse is way to hard for you, switch courses, or ask for help from a friend. I'm sure they'll help you out :]Health Question & Answer
