The very word "Haldol" makes me shudder. I used to work on a traumatic brain injury unit and patients were given Haldol fairly regularly as their brains healed. Some of them would have violent hallucinations which were truly terrifying for them. It was probably 1 out of 100 patients that would have that extreme reaction, but it was very memorable. Personally, I would stay as far away from Haldol as humanly possible. Resperidal is another strong medication, but I've seen it prescribed with less side effects than Haldol. If those are your ONLY two choices, then Respiradol would probably be best. I'm assuming that you have either Bipolar or Schizophrenia. If you are bipolar, you shouldn't be taking either the Haldol or Respiradol because it will most likely make you cycle. Best of luck with your medication change.Health Question & Answer
Honestly.? see a nurse practitioner about this. the proper medication, dose, and mixture depends on your body. I agree with the first statement above as I have seen my sister and friends really freak out on haldol. I have taken effexor as testing for depression it definately made a difference on how I saw the world for the better but then again, we're all built different up there.Health Question & Answer
