Question: What should i do.?/SI...smoking.? .?
I cut, btu i haven't done it in a while...so i feel like im loosing it..i need to do it, but i don't want my parents to find out....my friend was smoking ciggarettes today when i was at her house..i've never smoked b 4 in my life, but i strangly felt the sudden earge to start, she offered me one, and i couldnt decide, it was like i was arguing with myself..idk wat to do...i don't want to get addicted to another thing, but i rlly need relief...any help.? {and don't say something like, "get help!" bcuz im clinically depressed and already on meds and seeing a counsler..}Health Question & Answer

I smoke and I SI, and it would really be trading in one dangerous addiction for another. Smoking is expensive, and probably illegal at your age, but it does help tremendously with my urges to cut. I've had the same discussion with other people several times, both are unhealthy and one isn't really better than the other. I wouldn't start, I'm constantly coughing and afraid that if I don't stop I'm going to end up with something much worse than more scars. And there are a lot of smaller problems, dirty looks, rejection just because you smoke, having to go outside. I get really cranky if I don't have a cigarette after a few hours.

i've smoked for 3 years and it is the dumbest thing i ever did. Do not do it, even ignoring the obvious health concerns why add something else to the list of things you have to do, and something else you have to spend money on. Smoking ciggarettes doesn't do anything to help you cope with problems you might. you can't substitute cutting for ciggarettes it just doesn't work that way. i know i didnt think that i'd get addicted to it, and that my friends and i were just having a good time. but now i smoke waaay too much for my liking, once every few hours.

sweetie you really shouldn't start smoking. i mean, how old are you.? i bet im a lot younger, im insanely young... anyways, i smoke, and it's very addictive, yes, it relieves stress, but to a point, don't rely on it too too much. i mean, no one on here is gonna say 'YEA! smoke 10 packs a day! it solves all problems!!', so im guessing your looking for alternatives.

my friend and i used to cut, then we met each other and decided to make a pact against it. now she pierces stuff instead. it really does help her. shes pierced both her nipples, her lips, several times, tummy, nose, ears.. like, 10 times i think, eyebrow, anyways, buy a peircing gun! it might help, i dont know. it helped her, im just sayng =)

My friend has had bipolar disorder and has been smoking since I met him (about three years ago) and he still cuts and burns himself. he often tells me that not being able to quit smoking makes him feel even more worthless and inept. He also says it really doesn't make him feel better; it just gives him something to do when he's bored. He's been trying to quit and he says it's impossible.
