I am a person who worries and can not control it...?!

Question: I am a person who worries and can not control it....?
I am a worrier. I always think the worst if something is wrong. Cancer even though it only affected one person in my life (and he beat it) is always in the back of my head. I don't want to worry so much, but I can't help it.Health Question & Answer

It may be true to say that you are feeling so overwhelmed you feel like it is out of your control. That I understand. But to say I can't control it is saying I give up. I know this only because it is what I used to say.

The truth is nothing can change your thought patterns except you. I am not saying it is going to be easy. It wasn't for me but eventually I found I could write things down share them with someone I trusted and then decide whether or not worrying would change anything. I wish you the best!Health Question & Answer

though in every situation there are things you can control, there are also things you cannot control, no matter how much you may wish you could. For example, you may wish to turn sickness into health, make a bad driver good, make a hot day cool, make a depressed economy robust, make a noncommunicative spouse communicate, or make a disobedient child obey. The tendency to dwell on things you cannot control is normal and natural but unhealthy. It leads to feelings of anxiety, anger, or depression.

suggestion for exercise is a good one too. When you're worrying put your shoes on and just start running. Listen to yourself breathe as you do it. Count your breathes or steps if your mind keeps going back to worrying. You are in the habit of worrying. You can break that habit like any other. Find ways that distract you from the activity of worrying. The physical activity will help your physical symptoms.

Yes, my Grandma is the same way so really it doesn't ever go away. It's just who you are.

My only advice is to keep busy and exercise. Find a hobby or keep on continuing what you love to do to distract yourself from all the bad things. Have something to look forward to. Mainly, just keep busy.Health Question & Answer

Sounds like you have a very active mind. You need to do things to keep your mind busy--really, really busy. So busy you do not have time to think or worry. I know--easier said than done--but try to find something to keep the mind activeHealth Question & Answer
