NEED HELP PLZ??????????????????????...!

Question: NEED HELP PLZ.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?
ok, this is weird.
i had a car accident outside a school. i'm ok, no injuries. i am waiting for a fine in the mail for negligent driving. i wasn't driving fast and it was in the afternoon when the speed limit is 40 km/h around schools. i am going to get a fine , because the cop told me cause my car got towed away and i damaged gov. property. anyway, i'm not worried about the fine.
i can't stop thinking, since it is a school, what if i hit a child/ren. somehow, my mind is playing tricks on me. i keep on thinking i have hurt someone. i know that i haven't otherwise i would have goon back to the station for questioning. it's like i want reassurance that i haven't accidently hurt anyone. how can i reassure myself and stop tortu
ring myself.?
also, i gave a statement to the cop over the phone. he said negligent driving. he would've said something if i hurt or killed someone.
plz give me some kind of reassurance.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
first of all, what you're experiencing is not weird. it's a panic reaction. often when a person has had a nasty shock, their mind goes into overdrive about all of the things that "could've" happened. it also worries about the fact that it might happen and so it just replays it over and over again. (which is why you're doubting yourself so much).

the first thing is to acknowledge that you have had a shock and that what you're feeling is NORMAL. then, use logic with yourself. next time you're thinking you might have hit someone and your brain starts to race, take some deep breaths to calm yourself and say, "i am having a panic reaction". and then forcefully think your way through the points that you know deep down to be true. 1. the policeman told me i didn't. 2. i would've gone to the police station if i did, etc. and focus on repeating those until you feel a bit calmer. then when the panic comes back - do it all again. it may take some time for your mind to process it all, so be patient with yourself.Health Question & Answer

You know what, I think you'll be fine. I just saw an accident the other day that included an SUV and a student riding his bike home. The girl was 16 and Horrified. I think basically my point is that you didn't hit someone, so because it didn't happen. You are just in shock from the fact that you were thinking in reality. I.e. You could have hit someone..But you didn't. So, sorry about the accident, but you didn't hurt anyone. So its okay. Health Question & Answer

You're good! Property is always replaceable. You just had a minor accident around a school and NO ONE got injured which is good. Otherwise, there is one sign....an angry mother/ father cursing you out. Which u would remember if it happened. And it DIDN'T!
Get some rest, eat ice cream and cookies in front of a good movie and it'll go away... :-)Health Question & Answer

When I was a school counselor, my supervisor told of a female client who would repeatedly call the police and tell them she thought she might have run over somebody. She hadn't. So you're not alone in this.

Before you try therapy, I would first check out this website: mentalhealthsolutions.info. You will probably find everything you need there. And its free. Health Question & Answer
