Is Cipramil the same as Citalopram?!
Question: Is Cipramil the same as Citalopram.?
I have been on Citalopram for years but this time the chemist gave me cipramil instead of citalopram but still at 20mg. Is this exactly the same drug.? I feel a bit weird taking it but is this just psychological because I think it's different.?

Hi, Dont be worried. Cipramil IS Citalopram. Drugs normally have at least 2 names- a generic one, and also a name given by the makers of the drugs. For example, I take Prozac which has the generic name of Fluoxetine. I dont always pick up my prescription from the same chemist and the name stated on the box varies depending on where I collect it from.Health Question & Answer
Hi, Cipramil is the brand name for citalopram. In the leaflet you should have been given with the tablets the active ingredient is still citalopram.Health Question & Answer
