There is a receptor in your body called GABA when GABA is stimulated you feel tired, relaxed, etc. Just think of how you would feel if you had a couple beers. Xanax does the same except it is removed from your system rather quickly compared to say another GABAnergic drug Ativan (Lorazepam). Xanax gives drowsiness in many. What are you taking it for.? Is it a chronic nervousness or anxiety syndrome or panic disorder.? Stopping it suddenly will also have withdrawal symptoms. You should be consulting your doctor for proper advise.
