Are Xanax and Ativan almost the same thing?!

They are both anxiolytics and benzodiazepines, they both have similar effects and side effects, they are used to treat basically the same illnesses and they act roughly the same in the body.

Xanax and Ativan are in the same drug class, they are both benodiazepans if i spelled that right. They both have different side effects. The difference could be in the elderly we have to watch what is prescribed due to the fact that they react different. I personally take xanax and have been on it for a year and half now.
