I'm worried about the dude. We've been friends for a while but he's had some bad events happen to him just recently. He saw his buddy try to commit suicide, his girlfriend left him (of 2 years). He has told me he has had some crazy, gross, irrational thoughts that he has never had before. He says they are just uncontrollable and affects his feelings and he says he thinks he dwells on them so much that he feels that they are true. I feel sorry for him because he just does not seem like the kind of buddy I use to have. Any advice.? It would be great.Health Question & Answer

You're a good friend and he needs you to understand what he is going through. He is having Anxieties and Depression. His anxieties bring out those obsessive uncontrollable thoughts that he most likely doesn't want and then he gets depressed because of it. He should really go see his doctor and tell him how a matter of events have really stressed him out and needs something to calm him down. Assure him that this all passes, and that he can talk to you about anything, but he needs to do something to help himself. Take him to the bookstore/library so he could find books on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or Anxiety and Depression so he could recognize the signs and get help.

you should talk to him alot. make him feel like he isnt alone, that he has friends who will help him. im going through the same thing and i have a friend who does that. he helps me out whenever i feel so bad i want to commit suicide. i know that i feel better when im around friends. when im alone it just feels like i have no reason to live. just make sure he knows you are a true friendHealth Question & Answer
