Do you get nightmares from your meds? I take Celexa?!

Question: Do you get nightmares from your meds.? I take Celexa.?
I was just wondering because I have these very vivid dreams at night and they are all very weird. To me, it is like watching a movie through binoculars in a way, to describe it. I am never a character in the dreams, just watching like a movie or tv show. I find myself calling out or doing stuff in my sleep like grasping onto a pillow at times if I wake up. I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem on Celexa or any other anti depressants.? I don't want off the meds if at all possible because I have success with them otherwise, besides this side effect.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I have a similar problem and I take Lexapro. Been on it a few months.
Believe me, I love Lexapro, this drug has relieved me sooo very much of anxiety and panic attacks, and depression.
But I have the wildest dreams ever! They feel so real. But I don't wake up, like you do.
The dreams I quickly forget( most of the time). But it's weird, because I almost feel like I have this other life, because the dreams are so realistic.Health Question & Answer

Dreams/Nightmares or "sleep disturbances" are a side effect with most anti depressants.
I take anti psychotics but i get the same thing; vivid nightmares. I asked my doctor about it and she said it was very common. I too would much rather have the nightmares than the stuff i get when I'm off of them. It's not always easy to find a medication that works for you, If that's the only side effect you have then thats great.

You can see the other possible side effects here if you like~ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citalopram

I have this same side effect, i talk too people in my dreams I've never even seen in my life, and they say the weirdest stuff too me. The dreams feel like im in the afterlife and I have too make a choice if I want too stay or not and I always choose NO. Then I wake up. Health Question & Answer
