Bipolar and taking things personally?!

Question: Bipolar and taking things personally.?
I was diagnosed Bipolar at the age of 17 and I've always been a sensitive person but lately I seem to take things to heart too much. Of course I have my highs and lows but lately, I've been having more lows and feeling like there's no way out. I am not suicidal. I do enjoy life but if someone says something to me (complaining etc) then I take it straight to heart. How can I overcome this.?Health Question & Answer

hey,
i answered one of your other questions - 'bipolars, how are you feeling.?'
what always helps me is just talking, and telling people how you feel - listening to relaxation tapes and doing all the things i like most are some things that may help bring on a high day. Stay positive, dont give in to your negative thoughts. good luck! xxxHealth Question & Answer

I don't think it's got anything to do with you being Bipolar. I would say that it's more a part of your general make-up, personality etc Of course, if you're feeling particularly low, then you'll be much more sensitive to criticism etc I've always been very sensitive. I think it's something that you just have to learn to live with.Health Question & Answer

Hiya Bell,

Have you taken any medication for this.? Maybe it would be good to discuss things with the doctor because if you're diagnosed as bipolar then medication could help.
