Bipolar Betty rearing her ugly head again!?!

Question: Bipolar Betty rearing her ugly head again!.?
I am 24 years old and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 19. I was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia at 18. I was on a medication roller coaster for 3 years. I went off the meds and have been off for 3 years now without many problems. But I feel it coming back and I am scared. I don't want to get back on the meds because they made me worse! I have 2 kids, and my husband is in prison right now with a year left to pull. I just feel like I'm losing it. Just looking for some advice.Health Question & Answer

You should probably see your doctor, I don't think any of us can help you like you want us to. I would though, recommend reading this book, An Unquiet Mind: A Memoir of Moods and Madness. I read for my introductory psychology course. It was actually written by a psychiatrist who suffers from bipolar disorder. It may actually help you convince yourself to stay on your medication.Health Question & Answer

There are sooo many natural things you can try. Fish oil tablets are great to take if you are bipolar. Make sure you are staying away from ALL drugs and alcohol and usually people with Bipolar disorder should be seeing a therapist. You need the support of your family at this time. If you cannot afford a therapist or your medical coverage doesn't offer it (Kaiser offers counseling) than I would suggest trying to find counseling though church or by other means. DO YOUR RESEARCH. There is so much you can do for it. Health Question & Answer

i understand why u dont want to be on the meds. i am bipolar also i dont like meds either but when i think i am not thinking clear r doing ok i get back on them 4 a little while, maybe u should get on them 4 a while and see how u do. when u have kids u got to stay clear minded and be bipolar can cause u to do things u may regret i think u should really consider taking the meds.Health Question & Answer

Don't get alarmed dear one. Bipolar is not dangerous to your kids. This is nothing the Lord can't handle, you know that. The first thing you should do is call your doctor, then all your Christian friends. You're doctor will know how to calm you, maybe with a milder medication so you won't have to go back on the bipolar meds, and you're Christian friends will be there for you to lean on and pray with you. And we're your Christian friends, too even though we are on the internet. We all love you! Jesus will get you through this. It's probably just stress. "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things shall pass away, behold! I make all things new."Health Question & Answer
