Sleep with a night light or several night lights. I was 5 months pregnant when I turned 20 years old, and I still jumped out of bed so the witches couldn't grab my feet. I felt pretty stupid at the time. I got over it. Now I am 50 and can sleep so much better if it's completely dark. Now I know feeling stupid and worrying about things is a waste of time. I love being 50. Don't worry about it.
One idea-in European countries, I noticed a lot of the hotels and restrooms have motion controlled lights, so when you enter the area the lights come on. They turn off after a certain length of time. It's to conserve electricity. You might want to put these in closets and other dark areas so you aren't scared. I'm STILL scared when it's totally dark at night, but I have found that leaving the TV on for a while helps or putting a night light in a central room will help your whole apartment/house light up enough to break up the darkness. Sorry, but the only way to get over your fear is to expose your self to it.
When your in the dark tell yourself that nothing is going to happen.
Try and control your breathing and if it helps think of something or someone you love.

I used to be scared of lot's of things and I found that when my parents made me do things I was scared of I gradually got over my fears.
