when most people hear the word alcoholic the usually think of some drunk in the gutter ,sick all over themselves with no family or friends ,but this isn't always the case ,being an alcoholic doesn't mean that you reach for the vodka foirst thing in the morning ,it is a dependancy on alcohol ,a regular need for it ,that is an alcoholic ,there are many people who depnd on it and you might not even know ,for a lot of people it is isuallt a stress reliever , a way to unwind after a hard days work or a particularly stressful day either looking after the kids or looking for work etc,i had an uncle who was an alcoholic and he was the nicest guy you could ever have met ,always well dressed ,took pride in himself and his apperance but couldn't go without having a drink at night ,and he didn't get so drunk he was falling all over the place making a show of himself ,he just needed those drinks in the evening to forget his day and escape from his life for a few hours !!!Health Question & Answer

i live with an alcoholic who has been through rehab as part of his rehab, i had to go for his last 2 weeks what I discovered and this is from cetified professionals is that some people are born with a gene in their brain, and when they drink it triggers the effect so even those who don't drink could have that gene.?.?.? does that make sense.? its called thiq or something like that.Health Question & Answer

There are a lot of reasons for someone becoming dependent on alcohol but the most important is that it sets you on a different thinking track to when you are sober and some people like to hide out on this track until they eventually step over the line and cannot come back on their own.Health Question & Answer

They are ppl who have become addicted to alcohol. it can be very additive to alot of ppl. also some ppl drink to escape the real world maybe cos it isn't working out for them.

you don't have to drink morning noon and night to become an alcoholic ,if you just have 2 Sherry's a day and you cannot do with out them then you are an alcoholicHealth Question & Answer
