Hai Aisha! No,gal this is normal. You need to take the pills for a couple of weeks before they kick in.Chewing will make no difference. It just takes a wee while before they get right into the bloodstream

Persist with the normal dose.

Know that you're one day nearer to feeling better.

Look out world!A new Aisha is coming.!!!

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI - Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There's this strange herb called "St John's Wort" - it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John's Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.

The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced... you have that "learned behavior" in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior - Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction... There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to....

Your doctor must've told you that it takes about 7 full days before your depression pills kick in. So I'm thinking that it couldn't be the pills- just yet. But mentally you're already not handling them well, so I would really advise against you using any kind of meds right now. Since make your situation sound like you're at the edge of suicide I recommend you speak with your doctor right away and he will give you a list of questions to answer (you must answer these honestly, if you lie in the questions you're only hurting your self). I suggest you find some one in the real world to talk to about how your feeling- even if you don't want to talk to a relative or a friend there are toll free numbers you can call, which allow you to talk to real people that are there to listen to your feelings and thoughts. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! don't feel like you are. Please pick up the phone and call some one so you can at least vent out with some one. You also need to seek support from a counselor/therapist/psychologist that can have sessions with you on a weekly basis. You need all the help and support that you can get at this time, you can't get through this alone and you don't have to.

Here is a number where you can call to speak with a counselor:
1-800-784-2433 please call.
I really wish you the best. Take good care of your self.Health Question & Answer
