You need to ask a doctor because antidepressants work differently for everyone. We each have our own levels of neurotransmitters. You can also get used to an antidepressant and have to switch to a new one or even changes in the body like menopause could cause you to have to change. I say look up information and see which ones are the best sounding for you if you are serious.
They are not fast acting either. This is not ADHD medicine. It could take over a month to start working, which is why it isn't addictive. These aren't happy pills, unfortunately.Health Question & Answer

I take Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) in the evening, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over a year and a half, and it's working very well for me.

The Wellbutrin SR seems to help me to be more alert and active - and wanting to do things - while the Lexapro makes me more mellow, and it helps me sleep better, too.

It takes the Lexapro a few weeks to reach its full effectiveness, but I think the Wellbutrin SR works faster.Health Question & Answer

The drug companies have you right where they want you. They've convinced you through TV ads that you need a pill. And your doc gets kickbacks from the drug companies for prescribing them. Antidepressants were initially designed for short term use in combination with therapy in finding solutions to short term situational crisis. They are just used rampantly now. Everybody and their brother is now on some kind of antidepressant!! Guess what folks....doesn't fix the problem!! They are not exactly quick fixes as the drug companies would have you believe, making them wealthier by the minute.

You are asking for the 'best antidepressant'....that would be your doctor's preference, depending on which drug company has him on their payroll. I love the Fish Oil suggestion!! Good luck....Health Question & Answer
