Cutting relapse help ?!


Question: Cutting relapse help .?
If I told my counselor that I feel like I'm gonna relapse with cutting again and she's asked me to see her about it tomorrow, what is she likely to do.? I text her and said "Pissed off; feel like I'm gonna relapse, been like it about a week. Can't talk to my counselor [I have 2] and I don't have anyone to talk to" I'm nervous, how can I keep it together so I don't cry.? I hate crying in front of peopleHealth Question & Answer

You should be more concerned about relapsing with the cutting instead of crying in front of people. Crying does not leave scars or harm others - think about it. I used to cut and when I get that urge I find a way to allow my anger out. I will scream into a pillow and/or punch it, stick my face in ice cold water, stomp on the ground or anything that will physically drain me. Another good idea is to write a letter about your feelings without censoring it at all - let it all flow out just as you feel it. By placing these feelings down on paper you mind allows you to somewhat let go of those issues because it believes it has been put in a place where it may be retreived and therefore, does not hold onto it inside your mind. if you let yourself cry it will be better for you. Especially in front of a counselor, they will be understanding and probably be glad to see that you are allowing yourself to deal with your emotions in a healthier way. i know how you feel though, because i am the same way. i dont really know what to tell you, i just dont let myself do it. It is good though that you have let your counselor know how you feel. She will probably talk to you about it and you guys will hopefully be able to work something out so that you can have an easier time of not cutting. Health Question & Answer

I can understand your situation, I hate to cry in front of people too. And to be truthful, sometimes I think it's good to let it all out, though I admit, it's terrible but I think if you just remember this everything will be okay:

You need to talk to alleviate your problems. Your counselors are probably best to talk to as you don't need to start from scratch each time.
But for the long term, you need to look for ways of doing things for someone else. Can you get involved in volunteer work somewhere.?Health Question & Answer
