Answers:
The onset of schizophrenia in males is typically mid to late teens. In females in their twenties. We understand so little about the brain. Unfortunately there are only preliminary studies using genetic testing and there are multiple genes involved so there is no help there.

Seriously, if you think you have schizophrenia, you are 99.9 % sure you dont have it. With your family history though, your prone to getting a type of illness. The worse thing about it is that you never know that you have the illness till you get the big slap in the face. my big slap in the face was ending up in the e.r. from my actions and finding out about my friend who was just an illusion

People will know if you have it, you wont. Youll have illusions and delusions, by seeing and hearing things that arent there. You will also have reeaaaallly strange ideas, and truly believe things like 'aliens are coming to contaminate my water with radioactive pills!". youll believe that. Youll hear voices in your head that arent 'you'. From what it sounds like, you wont get it. You sound perfectly normal =] your brother hasnt gotten it, so you probably wont either.

The only way to know if you have it is to be tested by a psychiatrist. You are correct it typically occurs in late teens or early twenties.
