For me it says, I have a handful of disorders have been on a handful of medicines, have been hospitalized and deal with medical and mental health professionals. I also have many family and friends with psychiatric disorders and addictions. In other words I have lots of personal experience and exposure with the questions that are posed on this forum. If Ive been there already why not share what Ive gathered with others who are there now.Health Question & Answer
The internet is worldwide, and many countries have either rudimentary mental health systems, or none. This, and similar websites are one of their best means of receiving a variety of answers, which they can then evaluate.
I have studied psychology at Adelaide University, suffered depression, anxiety, and panic attacks (none for 25 yrs!) after a serious road accident, researched, and tried many treatments for them. Being disabled, and deprived of the ability to do so outside of my home, Y!A is one of the best places where I can employ what I have learned to make a significant contribution to other people's lives (I have dozens of emails, and more than 1000 "best answers" attesting to the above) which not only acts as occupational therapy, but also boosts my level of self esteem.
This, I consider to be a wn/win situation. Health Question & Answer
