Holy crap -- I feel like this all the time!

I think it's an anxiety issue. Perhaps, you've been so conditioned to hearing bad things, like, "This could be your last day on earth..."

Death could be something that scares you, which could make you think this way.

also, a symptom of OCD is this as well. If you have obsessive thoughts, such as loved ones dying, you're going to die, etc, you may need to get on some therapy or an SSRI medication to alter those thoughts. Health Question & Answer

Several possibilities come to mind. Panic disorders, social anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders. Do you know that your fears are illogical, but still can't control them.?

The good news is that through counseling and sometimes therapy with certain types of anti-depressants (usually selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as Prozac, Zoloft, or something along those lines) these conditions often improve greatly, or at least become manageable.

Talk to your doctor about getting a referral to a psychiatrist, and a counselor. If you don't have health insurance or something and can't afford this, keep in mind there are several low cost or sometimes even free counseling services out there that charge a sliding fee based on ability to pay. The Samaritan Centers for example.

Comment in regard to jim1624's answer: Spiritual beliefs can be an important part of overcoming things like this. So if you do have spiritual beliefs, it's important that you find a psychiatrist and counselor who are willing to work with your beliefs, and incorporate them into an "all inclusive" type of therapy. Instead of think they can solve all your problems strictly with drugs or "traditional western psychological thought".

Be open with your counselor / psychiatrist about any spiritual beliefs you have. If he/she is not understanding, find a different one.Health Question & Answer

That must be a really tough set of feelings to have.

I would think that talking to a mental health professional would be a good first step. They are trained in helping you to figure out what's behind those thoughts and the best methods for turning them around.

You could also look into some self-help books about anxiety and OCD. That might give you some good tips, too.Health Question & Answer

Rather than trying to figure it out yourself, why not just let God solve the problem for you. The bible contains this promise: "For God has not given us a Spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7)."

This promise can be claimed by accepting Jesus as your savior and applying scripture to your life.
