start off small. have a friend drive you to a nearby empty lot. drive around there for like every other day for two weeks until you are comfortable. then after that start a little bigger. dont have friends in the car and go down lonely roads (back roads, country roads, random roads.) once you can drive by yourself take on of your trusted friends (dont bring a friend in the car that will make fun of you or turn up the radio) as soon as you can drive around with a friend in the car down country roads ect. you are ready to start going around town. only do that in necessity and keep your cool. take deep breaths. if you are frightend pull over. like before once you are willing to do this drive your friend around. then once this fear is conquered try the highway. im sorry if this seems like you thought of it already. sometimes you need to hear dumb ideas from someone else to have them make senseHealth Question & Answer

That is a very good question. I also am unable to drive due to my panic/anxiety disorder. I am just now trying to drive down the street to the nearest walgreens. There are no lights or too much traffic. I don't know what you can do besides get complete control of your thoughts and realize you need to pay very close attention while driving. If another car crosses into your lane - watch for it and let them go. Accidents do happen, but alot can be avoided. You seem young enough to pick up and move on. I wish the very best for you, don't worry about driving until you get your next car.

One other thing you can do is to start out slow and work yourself back into driving again. It's difficult I know, but you can do it!

Hey sweetie,
I understand how you feel. Your best bet is to take it in small steps. Only drive a little bit each day, as you build your confidence back up, your fear will slowly subside. You will never forget you accident but it is something to learn from. My car was completely totaled too, it caught on fire because of the way its was hit. also another thing that could help, is some counseling. I know it sounds like something you don't want to do but it really helps being able to tell somebody what happened and how it happened! You will get better, just take it slow and don't push yourself too hard. Hope this helps, have a good night.Health Question & Answer
