Depression and anxiety....now that they are gone I can think clearly and don't give a **** if someone doesn't like the way I act being myself. I feel free!!! I totally agree with you.
I have suffered with depression for 13 years and before I was on medicine, I felt like I was lying to everyone, I would cry all the time, have fits of rage for no reason, and self-mutilate. This started when I was 12, never told anyone how I was feeling. I wore a mask because I didn't know how to tell. Finally when I was 18, 1 week before my graduation party I attempted suicide by overdosing. I was in the ER and for the first time in my life I was able to be myself and show everyone the truth.
Anyways, I was put on a bunch of drugs that didn't work and finally my psychiatrist gave me Lexapro, which I didn't take like I was supposed to. I didn't want to believe that I needed it. Finally I had a mental breakdown a few days before my college graduation, and i wanted to be sent into a place because i didn't trust myself to be alone. I had panic/anxiety attacks all the time and was finally given Xanex and started taking my Lexapro religiously.
I am here to tell you that it made the WORLD of a difference. When i was in a panic attack, i would take a Xanex and I felt like i could breathe again. The lexapro has helped me control my mood swings and i can function once again. Instead of sleeping, crying, and staying home...i am able to be who i really am.
So I am here to say they worked for me, and I don't think I would still be here without them. Health Question & Answer
